FBA Conducts Tennessee Diversified Oilseed Feedstock Development Program July 30, 2008 The Tennessee Oilseed Feedstock Development program is a project designed to develop improved oilseed crops, expand infrastructure, develop winter/summer rotations and otherwise expand the production of agricultural-based oils for industrial use. The Oilseed Diversification Program will provide opportunities for increased income among West Tennessee Farmers by identifying varieties that with higher value that can be produced and processed in West Tennessee. Through the Memphis Bioworks Foundation, Frazier, Barnes & Associates is tackling this monumental effort for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. The Tennessee Oilseed Feedstock Development program will allow West Tennessee to choose higher value oilseed crops that have been prescreened and tested for their agronomic capabilities. Each oilseed that makes the list of “recommended” oilseeds will have the characteristics desired by growers, processors and the end-users!
