Long known for innovation and “out of the box” thinking, FBA helps keep clients grounded with fundamental business basics.  The following is a sample of FBA’s current projects (as of December 2009):

• An international company is planning on converting captured methane from a wastewater treatment facility into electricity.  FBA is providing vital feasibility analysis to determine the economics and appropriate technology for the project.

• An agricultural entity has completed construction on a large-scale biodiesel facility, but lacks the technical experience in commissioning and optimizing the commercial technology.  Once the technology provider left the premises after failing to produce in-spec biodiesel, FBA was called in to make the necessary process changes to produce ASTM product and ramp-up production. 

• A large nonprofit entity was a repository for urban wood waste that was stockpiled and accumulating at a rapid rate.  FBA was selected to evaluate the options for converting the wood waste into green electricity and perform a feasibility analysis on the project viability

• A large trucking firm with access to yellow grease was interested in constructing a biodiesel plant.  FBA was engaged as the “independent engineer” between the company and the lending institution.  FBA also located an onsite project manager with considerable biodiesel experience that helped to organize and successfully oversee the construction of the project. 

• A young biodiesel firm needed assistance developing, negotiating and executing supply and off-take agreements.  FBA was engaged to assist because of its 10 years of biodiesel market expertise. 

• A cottonseed processor purchased an idle oilseed processing facility with the intent of converting it into a soybean processing facility.  FBA provided feasibility analysis which led to project funding and was subsequently engaged to assist in the plant conversion and overhaul.  With a background in oilseed processing and edible oil refining, FBA is providing integral engineering and technical support.
