Short, medium and long term strategies for sustainable living are becoming more and more common for municipalities throughout the United States and have in fact become integrated with strategies to reduce fossil fuel emissions, reduce total energy use and improve energy efficiency in the building and transportation sectors.
FBA provides Sustainable Planning consulting services to municipalities and other entities not only to reduce energy use and fossil fuel emissions, but to move toward a more carbon neutral community. Municipal Sustainability Planning is a process that identifies and prioritizes actions to be undertaken in the Identified Strategy Areas. Sustainability planning may be either proactive or reactive, depending on the vision of the community.
A successful Sustainability Plan will balance the management of limited resources with the never-ending need for those resources. This ongoing process may be a result of concern for the environment, economic concerns or both.
